The Tribe Youall...

One of the best hip hop acts ever, they first formed in 1985 and consist Q-Tip (Kamaal Ibn John Fareed), Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor), and DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad. I remember listen to A Tribe Called Quest on the way into school in year 8, I didn’t like hip hop and my friend bet me that he could change my view. He played a couple of tribe tracks to me and that was it.


These are my two favourite tracks one I have put as an Mp3 the other is a clip!!!

Calvin Harris the human synth creator

This man doesn't really need an introduction, Calvin is just the best ever, I do believe he was a key instigator in the “Nu Disco” phase, check out this video its mega creative. He will be in Sydney performing for Big Day Out which I can’t wait for, he should do a side show or two as well.

Canyons - A little bit different

The Canons are two boys from Perth who have a very distinct style, it’s a mix of acid house, nineties house loops and grindy bass. When these guys perform they combine live instruments and vocals with drum machines, samples and analogue effects. Their 4 track EP is available digitally through the usual outlets and the 12" is out now, also available from all the good spots.

Canyons are also working on an album, Canyons debut album will be released on Modular in early 2010. The Fire Eyes 12" is out now, available at all the good spots. Buy it on 12”
