The XX.

4 young musicians- all 20years old, from London England.

Having already worked with the likes of dance mega giant Diplo, The XX produced thier own debut album "xx" which was released on 17thAugust 09.

These young guns have a unique soul sound that is so dark but so fresh at the same time. Their debut release "Crystalised" was featured on iTunes in the Uk as single of the week only 1 day after the thier album release.

Ranking at number 6 on the NME future top 50 artists to watch, The XX are definately something to keep your ears out for.

Crystal Castles are coming

I have been a fan of Crystal Castles for a long time now. Ever since i saw them at the Meredith music festival in Victoria. Even though I had a random attack of hay fever from being in a country paddock for 3 days I managed to get up at 2.30 when their set was on. The lead singer Alice Glass walked out with a full bottle of Jager and was swigging it straight from the bottle (so rock star). They pumped out a chargey set that gave me goose bumps the whole way through, even their chilled songs are still intense, when they play live. Don’t miss them at Parklife this year.

Chronicles of Never and Pittbull Mansion

Chronicles of Never have been a brand I have had my eye on for a while now. They make awesome jewellery and shoes. The shoes all have their own unique crazy shape and style. Gareth moody is the creator of Chronicle of Never and used to work for ksubi before it got the T (tsubi).

Chronicles have an online store and some of their apparel is available on the pittbull mansion website.

I have put a couple of pic’s in this entry, some oversized bags, new mens shoes and the pic that is heading their new campaign (at the top).

Pittbull Mansion

Pitbull mansion has a great section of Australian and overseas designers available to purchase from their online store. Brands they stock are Stersis, Claude Maus, Melissa, State of Georgia, Karen Walker, Love Jungle, Lime Drop and Stolen girlfriends club to name a few. The clothes are pretty cool seeing that pittbull mansion is based in Tasmainia, weird huh!

Zouk- noun (origin: French Creole for "Party")

Yo Gabba Gabba! is a PARTY tv show that is beamed to us from the states and shown on Nick Jr. (ch:703)... Its a kids show from the same genre as High 5, Wiggles etc. and aimed at the ever impressional and uber pop culture influenced young youths of today.... and i mean young (think teletubbies for the new aged).

Forget "eh ooooooo" and "wake up jeff", Yo Gabba Gabba! brings you a segment called Biz's Beat of the Day, where Biz Markie, the rapper/beatboxer legend teaches the child watching to make basic beatboxing sounds...



This show is actully full of really catchy beats, bands and basslines. If you get bored and feel like getting in touch with your inner child from the new generation, sit through an episode (you may even see a few celebrities make cameos: Jack Black, The Shins, Shiny Toy Guns, Rahzel from THE ROOTS, Tony Hawk and the Ting Tings just to name a few)

This may be a lame post about bullshit kids tv.... But i wish the Ting Tings entertained me in the afternoon instead of some 50 year old man in a skivvy..

Music, Life lessons, Dancing and Partying... enough said..

G.L.O.V.E.S.

G.L.O.V.E.S is one of Australias best 'Nu Disco' producers he makes fun, cool and creative music. He is signed to the Bang Gang 12 inches label and has just realease a track called "P.Y.X" which is really cool and has an awesome synth solo near the end which i really like.

He is playing at the Civic Underground this friday the 11th of Septmber as part of his P.Y.X release tour.

I have also included Ben Browning's remix (The bass player from Cut Copy) which is a good take on the track its really fun too.

Life of the night.....Knightlife...

Knightlife is easily my favourite producer at the moment, it doesn’t matter if I am playing an opening or closing set one of his tracks seem to seep out of the speakers onto the dance floor. Knightlife is from Melbourne and has a synthy old school style with modern dance techniques to make you want to groove.

I cant get enough!

He is signed to cutters records ( CUT COPY'S Label), if you’re a promoter or club owner you need to book this guy, they need to be coming to Sydney on a monthly basis.
